Stars, Firefighters Unite to Raise Awareness for Burn Injury Victims
Waxahachie, TX (Law Firm Newswire) January 9, 2015 – Country music star Chris Young has joined burn survivor and firefighter Luis Nevarez in supporting a campaign to raise awareness and money for burn injury victims.
The campaign is co-sponsored by Kidde Fire Safety, a manufacturer of fire alarms, and by the Phoenix Society, a national nonprofit dedicated to supporting burn survivors. As part of the campaign, Kidde plans to donate more than 1,000 fire alarms to families in towns where Chris Young will be singing as part of his ongoing tour. In addition, Kidde will donate $25,000 to the Phoenix Society to provide services and support for burn victims.
“Burn injuries can be devastating,” commented John Hale, a Dallas attorney who frequently works with burn injury victims. “The Phoenix Society understands that the toll of a burn injury is not just physical – it can be emotional, social and financial. It is encouraging to see these issues being brought into the public eye.”
According to the Phoenix Society, 40,000 people are hospitalized every year for burn injuries. Luis Nevarez, one of the faces of the campaign, suffered an electrical burn while at work as a firefighter in 2012. He lost his left forearm and suffered third-degree burns all over his body. After a year of intense therapy and retraining, Nevarez was able to return to his full duties as a firefighter with a prosthetic arm.
In addition to its support of the nationwide campaign, Kidde is working with the Phoenix Society to develop a support program specifically adapted for injured firefighters.
“The worst thing that can happen to a burn survivor is isolation,” said Hale. “This campaign really gets out the message that when burn injury victims can access support, services and a community of fellow survivors, they can create a new path toward fulfillment and success.”Learn more at http://www.hale911.com/ The Hale Law Firm 100 Executive Court, Suite 3 Waxahachie, TX 75165 Call: 888.425.3911
