Cardinal Health and AppleOne Sued for Racial Discrimination and Retaliation

Los Angeles, CA (Law Firm Newswire) July 19, 2019 – Health care service and products provider Cardinal Health and staffing company AppleOne have been sued by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) for racial discrimination and retaliation after employees made multiple complaints about being subjected to discriminatory and abusive behavior.

According to the EEOC, African American employees at Cardinal Health’s facility in Ontario, California, were subjected to ongoing racial discrimination and harassment that violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The affected employees were hired by AppleOne and directly by Cardinal Health.

The employees endured daily abuse, including being called racial slurs. They also were victimized by racially charged graffiti. These abusive behaviors were perpetrated by the coworkers, managers and supervisors of the affected employees. When they complained about the harassment, Cardinal Health and AppleOne failed to take appropriate action against the perpetrators, and some of the workers who complained were terminated.

The lawsuit is seeking financial damages for the employees who were discriminated against and injunctive relief that will address current discriminatory behaviors and help prevent them in the future.
