Attorney Catherine Meehan Joins MUSC College of Nursing Board of Directors
Charleston, SC (Law Firm Newswire) May 4, 2020 – Catherine Meehan, an attorney with the Steinberg Law Firm, joined the MUSC College of Nursing Board of Directors. The position offers an opportunity for Meehan to act as a community leader at MUSC, which ranks sixth in the nation among nursing programs.
Before entering law school, Meehan distinguished herself in the medical field. She earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Notre Dame and then proceeded to the Medical University of South Carolina where she received a B.S. in Nursing. She worked at MUSC as a pediatric nurse for three years before law school.
As a member of the Board of Directors, Meehan will serve a three-year term, contribute financially to the school and advise the school on strategies to increase community engagement. She will assist the Dean and Director of Development with individuals, corporations or foundations who are potential sources of support. She will accompany the director on visits with prospective or current donors and speak on behalf of the school.
Meehan graduated magna cum laude from the Charleston School of Law in May 2013. In law school, she served as the Student Works Editor of the Charleston Law Review. She authored two published articles. One article explored the property rights of human tissue and was published in the Charleston Law Review. The other article studied the NFL concussion litigation and proposal to create a fund to pay former players with football-related neurological injuries. The article was published here.
After finishing two internship/clerkship appointments, Meehan realized she wanted her legal career to concentrate on helping people, not corporations. Her passion for law and medicine led her to the Steinberg Law Firm. The firm concentrates on individuals who have suffered injuries at work or injuries outside of work. Meehan’s background in nursing helps her understand the medical issues that arise in personal injury lawsuits and workers’ compensation claims and makes her a valuable member of the Steinberg Law Firm’s team.
Meehan is active in the local community. In addition to serving on the MUSC College of Nursing Board of Directors, she is on the Charleston School of Law Alumni Association Board of Directors. She is a member of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, Junior League, and the South Carolina Bar Association. She and her husband live in Charleston and have two daughters.Steinberg Law Firm 61 Broad St Charleston, SC 29401 Phone: (843) 720-2800 118 S Goose Creek Blvd Goose Creek, SC 29445 Phone: (843) 572-0700 103 Grandview Drive Summerville, SC 29483 Phone: (843) 871-6522
