Annie E. Andrews, Esq.

Charleston, SC (Law Firm Newswire) October 16, 2020 – Charleston-area law practice, Steinberg Law Firm, has welcomed a new member to their growing legal team in Goose Creek. Annie Andrews will join Steinberg’s personal injury group following seven years of experience as a trial attorney with the Charleston County Public Defender’s office, where she tried numerous cases to jury verdict and zealously fought for the rights of more than 1,000 individuals.

Andrews’ transition to the law firm will continue her commitment to fair treatment and just legal resolutions, as she will represent and guide clients impacted by car accidents or medical malpractice, failure-to-warn and design defects, and nursing home neglect or abuse. Andrews’ dedication to the integrity of her practice started early: Prior to law school, she worked with the Richland County Public Defender’s office and was inspired by the passionate lawyers who advocated for the constitutional rights of those battling cycles of poverty and whom society has often forgotten.

“I want to be a voice and advocate for people when they’re navigating through the most stressful situations in their lives,” said Andrews. “I went to law school to make a difference in the community by aggressively fighting for individuals’ rights, one case at a time.”

Named the “Star of the Quarter” in 2018-2019 by the SC Bar’s Young Lawyers division, Steinberg’s newest associate is a rising name in the region who has received industry recognition in recent years, including as the sole recipient of the 2019 Juvenile Defender of the Year in South Carolina award. Andrews is also known to go above and beyond simply defending a client’s case: While representing an incarcerated pregnant teen who informed Ms. Andrews she did not have access to a library, Ms. Andrews built a library for her incarcerated client then helped to revitalize juvenile jails in Columbia and Greenville by collecting more than 4,000 young adult books. Her efforts to increase literacy and expand access to books in juvenile jails saw coverage in by various media such as ABC 4 News, Post and Courier, and News 21, in addition to being recognized by the Charleston Bar Association.

The Charleston School of Law alum is admitted to the South Carolina and U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina and is involved in the Charleston County Bar Association, South Carolina Association for Justice, and South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. She is also a former member of SC Bar LYD Protecting Our Youth Committee and committee member of Charleston County Juvenile Drug Court. In 2019, Andrews graduated from the SC Bar’s Leadership Academy, a selective program designed to train the next generation of Bar members and community leaders.
