Attorney Peter Brill Earns National Board of Trial Advocacy Certification in Criminal Trial Law
New York, NY (Law Firm Newswire) November 10, 2015 – Peter Brill is an attorney licensed to practice in New York State who focuses on criminal defense and disciplinary hearings.
He recently became a certified member of the National Board of Trial Advocacy (NBTA), a prestigious membership limited to attorneys who have demonstrated the special knowledge, skills and proficiency necessary to be referred to as a “Board Certified Advocate.”
After almost two years of fulfilling rigorous requirements to achieve NBTA certification, Mr. Brill is now one of only two lawyers in New York State to be NBTA certified in Criminal Law. All NBTA board certified attorneys are required to show that they have significant trial experience, submit judicial and peer references to corroborate their competency, attend continuing legal education courses, submit legal writing documents, submit proof that they are in good standing and pass an examination.
Board certification is the most important, rigorous and respectable distinction an attorney can accomplish. Board certification is the only recognition of achievement given by non-profit organizations.
Mr. Brill earned his undergraduate degree in Ethics and Political Philosophy cum laude from Brown University. He is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center. Mr. Brill was previously an Adjunct Professor at the New York Institute of Technology. He is a former Assistant District Attorney whose experience provides insight that informs his work with criminal defense cases and his representation of professionals who are under investigation or contesting disciplinary charges.
Since 2012, Mr. Brill has achieved recognition by Super Lawyers as one of the top criminal defense attorneys in the New York metropolitan area. He has also been chosen as one of the top 100 Trial Lawyers in New York by the National Trial Lawyers organization.
Only about three percent of American attorneys are board certified, and through his efforts Mr. Brill has proven competence in his specialty area.
Mr. Brill defends clients in both federal and state criminal cases. His work defending clients has been featured in multiple publications, including People, the Associated Press, the New York Law Journal and the New York Times.
